Diet Rules
These are none of those old diet rules that involve drinking another 2 liters of water a day or giving up from your diet Lindt Lindor Swiss Chocolate Truffles for ever. However, you will find here both the old rules and the new rules to compare.
The old rule #1: Go to the gym 3-4 times a week for 2 hours a time.
The new rule #1: The guidelines from the WHO - World Health Organization - say that 30 minutes of moderate vigorous exercise will minimize the risk of becoming overweight and developing heart disease and diabetes. Everything you do it counts. Clean the house or go for a walk. However, do not dawdle get those arms and legs moving.
The old rule #2: The scale will tell you how healthy you are.
The new rule #2: weight yourself daily to track your progress may not reveal the truth. A tape measure might be more honest with you. If there is to much bouncing around your middle you may risk heart disease and diabetes even when in theory you are within a healthy range. A Waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) - the measurement of waist circumference- of over 100cm (40 inches) in men and over 80cm (35 inches) in women may increase those risks because of the fat distribution. Aim to shed your belly bulge using regular strength exercise.
The old rule #3: Read every label before you buy.
The new rule #3: It is acceptable to think 80/20. Some studies have shown that label stats, on some of the ingredients, may be based on unrealistic serving sizes. The truth is if you manage to follow a diet 80% of the time with natural, unprocessed fresh food and exercise regularly it is OK to moderately spoil yourself for the other 20%of your diet.
The old rule #4: Use a detox program regularly.
The new rule #4: a Dedox diet that involve water and tasteless bean sprouts or juices are unnecessary taken regularly. However, you could take a couple of days course twice a year if this will make you feel any better. Body organs such as the kidneys, liver and skin are designed to detox our bodies by excreting waste daily.
The old rule #5: If you don’t smoke you are safe from the third leading cause of death strokes.
The new rule #5: A new study shows that stress can trigger a stroke. Learning how to cope with stress and keep it at minimal levels could cut your risk to a stroke by 25%. It is of course a lot better if you also quit smoking.
