Today’s children tend to be overweight and even obese. And while steps from the state have being made in order to prevent this epidemic from carrying on, the actual struggle is on the home front. If you could give your children sound, low-fat meals and get them to some physical exercise, you should not have any troubles with overweight. However, the great problem is how to start them been active.


Children love to play and if you could have them engage in physical games, they will automatically be exercising! There is no need for pressure on doing press-ups and crouches as they do not really need to comply with a typical grownup exercise routine. Just being outdoors, running around the back yard is ideal for them.

If you do not have the space in your back yard for play a good yard to play in, you could make a small effort and take your children to a close by park or playground. The playthings on the playground are mostly made for exercise and your children in no time at all will begin climbing, sliding and running around. However, even in the absence of a cool playground full of equipment, there are some entertaining ways to promote physical activity.

Kicking or throwing a ball is an ideal prop for driving children to exercise. Children could easily create their own games or set up goals, marked with stones or their jackets and play their very personal variation of football. Younger children will love going after the ball as it rolls away!

If there are mounds or hills near the place you live, present your children to the delight of rolling down a hill. You must recall the game from years back. It was wonderful fun and still is. The physical exercise part comes in while the children climb back up the hill to try over again.

If you can get a few children together, organize a game of chase. This gets everybody running around happy and laughing. This is a great hit amongst younger children. There are different versions but see if the children can come up with some more ideas.

A pet dog provides infinite possibilities for adding up some exercise to your daily routine. Although you should not have a dog for that reason only, it is for sure a big help. The entire family could take part in walking the dog around the neighborhood and children will love playing and rolling around on the floor with their pet, which are all good kinds of physical exercise.

Children these days do not get plenty of exercise and the most effective way to prompt them to move is to become a good model. If you are regularly active by walking and exercising from the time your children are very young you should not have much of a problem. The problem starts when children are permitted to sit down on the sofa and watch TV every day for hours!
